Biography

From 2002 on I have painted almost 100 portraits under my Christian name 'Remigius' (Remco Hazenbroek). More than half of those were commisioned portraits. My work has been exhibited in a number of galeries and art fairs and has been published in books, magazines and newspapers (see below). I followed my art lessons at the Vrije Academie in The Hague, am a member of 'STROOM Den Haag' and the 'Nederlandse Associatie van Beeldend Kunstenaars' (NABK).

Atelier Brugman in Voorburg

Teaching at Atelier Brugman, Voorburg

Due to lack of time I temporarily stopped my lessons at atelier Brugman in Voorburg. It’s likely that instead of the weekly lessons I will start workshops in the spring of 2012. If you want to stay informed you can submit to my newsletter.

Tijdschriften

Publications in magazines

Over the last two years I had several publications in the magazines 'Palet' and 'Atelier Magazine'. Although the text is in Dutch you can download them here:

Television program 'Sterren op het doek' in 2009

In 2009 I was invited to paint the portrait of European Commissioner Neelie Kroes for the dutch television program 'Sterren op het doek'. The program (june 25th 2009) can still be seen on the website 'Uitzending gemist'. Neelie Kroes: 'the painting is a bit too strong for my taste, but I can see it being exhibited in a museum in a 100 years time'. It reminded her of Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud, two of my favourite artists.

Book 'Beeldende kunst in Nederland' (part 2, 2010)

The 'Stichting Kunstweek' regularly publishes a new edition of the book 'Beeldende kunst in Nederland'. The second edition for 2010 has been presented during the 'regionale kunstdag Rotterdam' on 9-5-2010. 50 Dutch artists show 114 objects of art in this book. My painting 'Beatrix 2' is published in the book. It's for sale for € 24,95 (ISBN 978-90-81009-26-3).

Book on dutch portrait artists: 'Sprekend!'

In november 2009 the book 'Sprekend!' was published. An overview of 45 dutch portrait artists, edited by Annelou Bangert from publishing house Kunstvitrine. Besides four pages in the book itself my painting of grandson 'Lode' is shown on the cover! The book is for sale for € 22,50 (ISBN978-94-90103-01-9).
